About the American Immigrant Alliance

American Immigrant Alliance was founded on the belief that immigrants have played a vital role in shaping the United States through their innovation, determination, service, entrepreneurship, and cultural contributions. Yet many of these stories remain untold or underrepresented. Our mission is to highlight, celebrate, and preserve the achievements and experiences of immigrants from all walks of life, ensuring that their contributions become a lasting part of the American story.

Through storytelling, publications, interviews, educational initiatives, and archival projects, we document immigrant journeys and accomplishments while fostering a greater appreciation for the diverse communities that help strengthen our nation. We seek to create a platform where immigrant voices, histories, and successes can be shared, recognized, and preserved for future generations.

Our work is nonpartisan, community-driven, and dedicated to honoring the individuals and families whose contributions continue to enrich American society. By celebrating these stories, we hope to inspire understanding, encourage civic engagement, and build a deeper appreciation for the immigrant experience.

How we work

We collect first-person accounts through long-form interviews conducted by trained oral historians, in the language each storyteller is most at home in. Transcripts, recordings, and accompanying photographs are catalogued in our open digital archive — and selected stories are developed into essays, profiles, and research briefs for publication.

What we publish

Our magazine carries oral histories, essays, profiles of immigrant Americans whose work has shaped the country, and research on the contributions of immigrants to American science, culture, labor, and civic life. Everything we publish is offered to the public — and to the classrooms, libraries, and civic groups we partner with — at no cost.
